This morning in the car my family and I started having bets and we were acting like we were on a game show. I wasn’t very good and my sister wasn’t either.Try these tongue twisters 5 times fast! Your tongue will really twist!

Man, this years Halloween was super fun. The fifth grade had a special surprise for the rest of the school. The wizard of OZ theme! It was super cool. All the students who wanted to participate could either be a flying monkey or a munchkin I chose to be a munchkin. All the munchkins got fake lollipops that were ginormous! It looked so cool. The Halloween parade was a highlight but the star of the show was… the Halloween party! It was really fun because there were four stations and my favorites were the snack station and the dance station. We just had a unit on nutrition so the snack station was healthy. We had healthy cupcakes and the secret ingredients were pumpkin and yoghurt. They tasted just like any other cupcake. I also liked the dance station because 1 I love dancing and 2 we got to learn the actual dance moves from the music video THRILLER!
After school was even better because we went trick or treating and I didn’t stay in my compound. I went to Willowbrook for a street party with Abby. Afterwards we went trick or treating in Willowbrook. They had the best candy ever! After that we went to green court at 7pm and raided the last of it, only 4 houses were still open so it was not as much fun but we still got a lot of candy and it was truly THE BEST HALLOWEEN (so far.)
Every year at ACS (my school) we have a Halloween party called fall festival. It is a really fun time were you go to all different kinds of booths, and get stacked up with yummy candy. I always wonder what I’m going to be, I don’t want to be what you see usually, like a vampire, a devil, or a zombie; I want something that will stand out so I did a lot of hard thinking….. I was going to be a French spy!!!! It did not take long. I just put jeans on, a black t.shirt/tanktop, a cool looking black hat, a fake mustache, and a water gun. I looked AWESOME. After we did the parade, I met up with my good friend Deanne, we stuffed our tummies full of lolly pops, chocolate, all of that stuff. Deanne said that we should go to the haunted house. I don’t know about you, but I’m totally freaked out by the haunted houses. I never liked the alone feeling I get, when a bunch of high school kids jump out at you with bloody faces. But I didn’t want to sound like a wimp, so I said yes. We walked to the doors with screaming and shouting. I felt my knees get all shaky and my palms got sweaty but I could not back out now. “Excuse me would you like not scary, medium scary, scary, or really scary?” asked the lady, but before I could reply, Deanne quickly said “We would like really scary” and gave her the tickets. I took a deep breath and walked through the doors. It was dark and paper bats got stuck in your hair while the screaming and banging was happening. I could sense that Deanne was scared too, “Your turn ” the lady said. I almost ran out of there, but Deanne kept a firm grip on my hand. We walked in it was pitch black dark. “Aaaaaaaaaaaaaa” all these bizzare looking zombies came out and walked around or crawled on the floor. Me and Deanne just stood there so disappointed at not getting that, “scared out of your pants feeling”. So, me and Deanne walked out saying how not scary or thrilling it was. I guess I’m just getting older, I still had a wonderful time!
Me and my cousins were having a sleep over, and we watched a movie called Soul Surfer. Its based on a true story. We all grabbed our cozy blankets and popcorn. Soon the movie started, it was about a girl who LOVES to surf. One day when she’s surfing, she gets attacked by a shark! She lost 60% of her blood. She did not die, but she did lose her arm. If that happened to me I would be so scared
to get back in the water but she wants to surf in the contest with or without an arm. She struggles to make that dream a reality, it took hard training, and patience. Will she win or will her dreams of becoming a pro surfer get ruin…. Watch the movie to find out.Soul Surfer Trailer
Even though it hasn’t even been 3 weeks I can tell that this is nothing close to being like fourth grade there are more teachers, more stuff to learn, more students, we get blogs and student email! Now that was the light side this is the dark side.
It has no connection to fifth grade at all more to the whole school it happens every year to every one, the back to school blues. During summer you got to eat when ever you wanted sleep when ever you wanted do jumping jacks when ever you wanted! Now there is a certain time and place for every thing. I can’t handle it! I don’t know how you’re doing but I can’t get over the blues…
This summer I went to Florida and to see my grandma. My mom signed me up for a surf camp, “salt water cowgirls!” (cool name) I was a little nervous if I was good surfer or not. When I got there I saw my instructor, she liked to be called “Sticks” and when everybody got to the beach we all introduced ou selves. We went trough the basics about holding you surf board and how to stand up on the board when your in the water. Sticks assigned us to different boards, I got assigned to L.P (Sticks named her boards ) and we carried them straight into the water. The waves were huge! I was scared I was going to flip over! Because in Nippers (another blog post) they had handles that you hold on to, but here there was no handles. It was my turn after practicing and practicing I finally got the hang of it. The next day, my dad started to video tape me I didn’t want him to video tape me falling down but he did it anyway. I padded hard, the wave took me up and I balanced my feet on the board and I was cruising down the the beach. I DID IT!!!!! and my dad caught it all on tape! I started to do it over and over again but I slipped of my board and the fin of my board sliced my leg and formed a bruise around it (Ouch!) That isn’t the first bruise I got I have massive “battle scars” that’s what my instructor calls them. I had tons of fun!
Ms Lau (my teacher) is a great dancer. She ran an After School Activity called hip hop happening and it took a lot of practicing. Vincent a high school-er taught us most things then there was a lunch jam. After months of practicing we were finally ready to do the lunch jam. So when we were having lunch the music started and we bounced into the open area in the cafeteria. A couple of people stood on the tables and we started dancing.
A couple weeks after the lunch jam Ms Lau brought us back and we had a meeting. She told us that if we wanted to be in a big dance show called dance defined, we would represent the elementary. We did weeks of practice just to get it right. We learnt so many things and we got to dance with the big kids and get lifted up. On Monday and Tuesday the week of the dance we got to use the stage. We needed to make a lot of adjustments to the v, one of our movements and other parts.
On the day of the first dance, back stage was buzzing and we put on so much makeup. The next day was a lot more organized. I think that a High School student, Crystal danced the best, because she had a lot of movement and was exciting. A group dance called Bomb was the second best because it was like they were robbers and it was really funny, it was in Hip Hop style.
When it came to our first one I was so nervous I stood backstage waiting for it to start so it could finish. As we bounced on stage I felt a lot happier than usual. When we finished we ran backstage as fast as we could, we had 2 short dances to get changed so we got into our places in the audience. When our Que went we started walking up to the stage. At the end i was happy that it was over but also sad.
I read a cool book called Percy Jackson and the Lightening Bolt. it was all about a boy called Percy, who is kicked out of bording school (again) and is sent to camp “half blood” ware he finds out that he is Poisidon’s (God of the Sea) son. Percy is sent on a dangerous quest, to retrieve Lord Zeus’ lightning bolt and return it back to Zeus. On this quest, Percy fights Medusa, and meets a half-goat half-man, and takes a trip to the under world where he thinks Hades God of the Underworld has stolen the Lightning bolt. But he finds even more horrible secrets that could destroy Mount Olimpus. Read the book to find out more. I really like this book because its full of adventure and teaches you about greek mythology.
Me and my mom went to the library to watch the movie “End of the line.” It was about people that were over-fishing, and fishing so much that some kinds of fish are almost extinct! They were over fishing beyond the boundaries, and some fish like the Thailand Cat Fish and Bluefin Tuna, are almost extinct. The movie told us that if we do not stop over-fishing the ocean will be unbalanced because we are fishing way too fast. The result will be that big fish will not have a chance to make more babies, and that leaves all the big fish extinct and the the smaller fish will increse. After the movie, a few scientists came and talked to us about how to save the fish. They said you don’t have to stop eating fish, you just have to be aware of what kinds of fish you buy. I really enjoyed wachng the movie and I hope things get beter with fishing! (You can learn more by going to www.endoftheline.com).

It’s finally Easter! For this wonderful day, me , Sophia, Sam and Mark decorated many beautiful glittering eggs. We all went to bed in our houses, and the next morning three cute bunnies made of yummy chocolate were standing outside my room! The Easter Bunny strikes again! I was invited to Sophia’s house to have a big Easter breakfast. So me and my parents walked upstairs to her house. The big table was filled up with a big breakfast! Waffles, juice and lots more. Then Sophia’s mom announced that we were going to have an Easter egg hunt! So me and Sophia and Sam grabbed our Easter baskets, and ran searching for eggs until there were no more eggs left. We went aside and counted our eggs. Sam had the most, I came in second and Sophia came third. It was the best Easter ever!
